Chitty Chitty Bang Bang The Musical

A few weeks ago John and I travelled to Birmingham to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Birmingham Hippodrome. I absolutely loved the film when I was younger, I would watch it everyday after school. I knew all the words and would sing along at the top of my voice. We went to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang years ago and loved it but the actual reason for our visit this time was that I am a huge Carrie Hope Fletcher fan.

John booked tickets as a surprise for my birthday and I couldn't wait. The date couldn't come soon enough. When we arrived at the theatre it reminded me of the theatres that you see in New York or London. It was off the beaten track and didn't look much from the outside but inside it was a lovely, fresh and modern.

Our seats were in the stalls and we had a great view of the stage. The Saturday Matinee performance was full with people of all ages. It was so nice to see so many young children there too.

Playing the role of Caractacus Potts was Lee Mead. For those that don't know him he won the BBC talent search for Joseph in the show Any Dream Will Do. I have to say stepping in the shoes of Dick Van Dyke is hard and I am so thrilled I got to see Lee take on this role. For me he was the star of the show. His acting was flawless, his singing was effortless and there is a lovely warmth about him that made me smile every time he came on the stage. I had a tear in my eye and lump in my throat as he sang Hushabye Mountain to Jeremy and Jemima. It was so beautiful and not one person in the audience made a sound.

I have waited months and months to see Carrie as Truly Scrumptious. I follow her over on her You Tube channel and have seen sneak peeks on her costumes and her fellow cast mates. She really does the role justice. She brings an edge to Truly that is quite feisty and just like Lee her vocals are just effortless. She doesn't even look like she needs to try. The chemistry between Lee and Carrie is so real and I know he has since left the show so I wonder just how magical it is now starring Jason Manford.

The other highlights for me were Claire Sweeney and Phil Jupitus as the Bombursts. We have not seen Phil in anything before so didn't know what to expect. He plays the character so well, he had the audience in stitches and he suited the role perfectly. Claire Sweeney is from my home town and I love watching her live on stage. We saw her in Hairspray and now Chitty and she always excels in the roles. The Chu Chi Face song was fabulous.

A special mention to Scott Paige who is just hilarious as Goran (The Bombursts spy) he really got the audience laughing. Also the chilling and quite scary Childcatcher was amazing.

The actual production was so more advanced than last time we saw it. There were projections of scenery on the stage and the way the Chitty car flew through the night was so much better than last time.

It was clear a lot of effort has gone in to this production and for us we saw the perfect cast.

Daddy Goes Shopping On Wicked Uncle

When it comes to buying toys I am a little more open minded than Daddy. Daddy obviously enjoys choosing toys for little J but they are always the same type either cars or lego. So when Wicked Uncle gave us a challenge of browsing their website and choosing some toys for little J, I gave Daddy the job.

Little J has started really enjoying playing games such as memory games or simple fun games. We have always played games as a family. I have mentioned Num Noms before on my blog but if you haven't heard of them Nums are adorable, scented, squishy characters with tons of personality. We were recently invited to an event at our local Bella Italia to celebrate the launch of series 2 of Num Noms.

Thinking back now I remember I wanted to be just like the reporter April O'Neil. When we were offered the chance to review a TMNT Half Shell Heroes Squeeze 'Ems from Flair Plc I was really excited. It's nice that the Turtles have made another comeback and little J can enjoy them like I did.

Miniscoff - Organic Food For Children Review

Over the past year we have tried so many different foods for little J as he can be quite fussy. One minute he likes something the next he doesn't. It can be hard to give him a balanced meal every evening as the look of vegetables sometimes makes him push his plate away. I do like to make meals from scratch but as little J is in bed so early sometimes its impossible so I do reach for something easier.

Trolley Bags
A few weeks ago I noticed in my local Tesco that they had a trolley near the 'Scan As You Shop'. It was filled with coloured Trolley Bags. I had seen people with these bags before in their trolleys and although they looked good I never got round to trying them out, until recently. Trolley bags are exactly what you would expect, bags that fit in your trolley.

We Are Part Of The Netflix Stream Team

When we were contacted by Netflix to ask us to be part of the Netflix Stream Team I was so excited. Mummy and I absolutely love watching movies and tv programmes but like most people we find everyday life takes over and it’s just impossible to sit down and watch live tv. We would rather watch movies at a time that suits us and we also love to watch tv programmes as boxsets so there is no long wait in-between episodes.

Playbrush Review

Luckily Little J has always enjoyed brushing his teeth, it is part of his morning and bedtime routine and he likes trying to do it himself. There have been times when he really didn't want to brush his teeth especially when he was teething or if he is really tired. On days like this we would sing a song, count or anything we could think of that would distract him as we brushed. A few weeks ago we were sent a device called Playbrush which makes brushing fun.

Baby Annabell Brother Doll Review and Giveaway

Baby Annabell Brother Doll
I like little J to be exposed to all types of toys. Sometimes, even though we try to encourage him to play with other things he will just sit happily with his cars. I've now learnt that that's okay and eventually he will come round to other things and find new toys he likes. Little J was recently sent Baby Annabell's Train Andy Dog and he absolutely loves it. Now that the weather is warmer he has been playing outside a lot more and Andy has too. We recently received another Baby Annabell product this time it was Baby Annabell's Brother. I knew little J would love this as he likes anything that he can push around in his pram or play doctors with.
