Whilst browsing Instagram last week I came across a post celebrating 25 years of Dawsons Creek. I had to read the post twice just to check as I couldn’t believe it has been 25 years since Dawsons Creek debuted on TV. Over the years I have watched Dawsons Creek many times and most recently was last year when I watched all 6 seasons again. Even at my age I absolutely love the show and know it will continue to be a firm favourite of mine for years to come.

The show dealt with issues that teenagers and young adults could relate to such as love, forbidden love, friendships, sex, under age drinking, infidelity and death. After watching the show so many times I have lots of favourite episodes but here are my top 7 favourite Dawson Creek episodes.

S01 Ep07 Detention
Loosely based on the movie Breakfast Club, Dawson, Joey, Jen and Pacey share their feelings for one another during a game of truth or dare in detention. We are introduced to the character Abby Morgan who has her heart set on making all four characters as uncomfortable as possible as she dares Jen to kiss Pacey, who then dares Joey to kiss Dawson.

S02 Ep07 The All Nighter
Introducing yet another new character in this episode Chris Wolfe. As the gang need to study for a test the next day Chris invites them to his what can only be described as a mansion to study. Dawson, Joey, Pacey, Andie and Jen pull an all nighter cramming for the test but some manage to have a little fun too.

S02 Ep11 Sex, She Wrote
Abby finds a sexy, discarded love letter and sets forth to find the author, Dawson's script revisions cause rumours to fly, and Pacey gives Andie the cold shoulder. Once again Dawson, Pacey, Jack, Andie, Joey and Jen are in the hands of Abby as she tries to solve who had sex the night before. Three possible encounters, Jen and Dawson, Joey and Jack or Pacey and Andie.

S02 Ep16 Be Careful What You Wish For
Joey plans a surprise birthday party for Dawson who is out with Pacey and Andie, having a night of recklessness and the blues. Lots happening in this episode including Jack coming out as gay, Dawson realising he is miserable without Joey and also the topic of under age drinking. Dawsons rendition of I've got the blues is epic!

S03 Ep20 · The Longest Day
In a story that replays the same day's activities from three different perspectives, Joey and Pacey go over the ways to tell Dawson about their feelings for each other. When the truth does come out, Dawson's reaction is not the one they'd hoped for. Meanwhile, Andie, who thought she was getting over Pacey, sees Capeside visitor Will, but their first date is ruined when she also learns about Joey and Pacey.

S05 Ep10 Appetite for Destruction
The group is thrown into disarray when Jen and Dawson return to Boston as a couple. While Joey attempts to deal with her feelings, Jen and Dawson face the scrutiny of their friends during an awkward dinner that Pacey cooks for Jen, Jack, Dawson, Joey and Audrey. The love 'square' between Dawson, Pacey, Jen and Joey never gets old!

S06 Ep24 ...Must Come to an End
Dawson, Joey, Pacey, Jen and Jack come together in Capeside after five years for a wedding; a heartbreaking secret is revealed; Joey finally chooses between Dawson and Pacey. For me Joey definitely chose the right boy!

There really are so many more episodes I could have chosen. After reflecting back I have to say seasons 5 and 6 didn't really do much for me even though I did like Audrey and Eddie who were introduced once the gang headed to college.

Dawsons Creek was the first show I had watched where fans had a favourite who they championed throughout the series. Some would change there mind and flick between the two. Where you team Dawson or team Pacey? I was always Pacey.

I would love it if you shared your favourite episodes with me or favourite Dawsons Creek moments. Pop a comment below or tag us on socials.

Ideas To Help You Save For Christmas

Last updated January '23

Saving for Christmas for most people starts in January. Christmas can be one of the most stressful times of year so it's sensible for us to get a head start and start preparing for Christmas as early as now. The January sales is a great place to start as you can get some amazing bargains on gifts, decorations or homeware that you can put away in preparation for Christmas. Every year I say I will start saving for Christmas as soon as possible and I never do. This year I have decided I am going to start saving for Christmas now and I have a few ideas on how to help you save for Christmas if you want to start now too.

1p Challenge
The 1p challenge is probably the most known saving scheme as is quite a popular choice. It's very simple to follow and if done correctly by Christmas you will have over £600 in your saving pot.

So here's how it works

On 1st January you put 1p in to a savings jar
On 2nd January you put 2p in to a savings jar
On 3rd January you put 3p in to a savings jar
On 4th January you put 4p in to a savings jar
On 5th January you put 5p in to a savings jar
On 6th January you put 6p in to a savings jar
On 7th January you put 7p in to a savings jar
and so on adding 1p on to your total each day.

By the end of this challenge you will have saved well over £600 in time for Christmas.

This challenge can be done in reverse if you wanted to save larger amounts at the beginning on the year.

On 1st January you put £3.65 in to a savings jar
On 2nd January you put £3.64 in to a savings jar
On 3rd January you put £3.63 in to a savings jar
On 4th January you put £3.62 in to a savings jar
On 5th January you put £3.61 in to a savings jar
On 6th January you put £3.60 in to a savings jar
On 7th January you put £3.59 in to a savings jar
and so on until Christmas.

It's a simple saving challenge which would certainly give you a head start towards your Christmas Spends.

The 52 Week Challenge
This idea is similar to to the 1p challenge however you don't have to remember to add your pennies to your savings jar each week you add each week and it's a pound challenge rather than a penny challenge so by Christmas you will have saved over £1300.

So here's how it works

Week one add £1 to your savings jar
Week two add £2 to your savings jar
Week three add £3 to your savings jar
Week four add £4 to your savings jar

By the end of the month you will have saved £10 now this won't seem much but it soon mounts up as you head in to months 6,7,8 and finally in to December when your pot will have well over £1000 in it.

You can also do this challenge in reverse too

Week one add £52 to your savings jar
Week two add £51 to your savings jar
Week three add £50 to your savings jar
Week four add £49 to your savings jar

Doing this challenge in reverse means that at the end of the month you will have £202 in your pot.

Save With Your Supermarket
Asda offer a savings reward card which is perfect if you shop at their store. The cards are usually found in store or you can order one online. Every time you shop you can add an amount to your savings card. You have full control so can add as much or as little as you like and as often as you want. The amount you save on your card can be put towards your shopping in store, online and also on George online.

At the end of the year they usually offer a small reward to say thank you for saving with them each year.  These rewards were for 2021 but assume they will be similar for 2022. I will update when the 2022 rewards have been confirmed.

Savings on card £30 - £79
Bonus reward £1

Savings on card £80 - £129
Bonus reward £3

Savings on card £130 - £179
Bonus Reward £6

Savings on card £180 - £229
Bonus Reward £9

Savings on card £230 - £279
Bonus Reward £12

Savings on card £280+
Bonus Reward £15

If you are a regular shopper at Tesco then you can will know that Tesco offer a reward scheme in the form of Tesco Club Card Points. These points are converted in to vouchers throughout the year and are a great way to save to help towards your Christmas food shop.

You could also buy gift cards throughout the year which are usually by the checkouts to save for Christmas. Unfortunately Tesco gift cards can only be loaded once so they cannot be topped up so not as easy as the Asda Christmas Saving card but still worth it if Tesco is your regular supermarket.

Money Saving / Cash Back Apps
We have been using money saving apps now for quite a few years and the amount of cash back we earn really does build up. This can be left in the app or you can withdraw and add to your saving jars. There are so many money saving and cash back apps out there but these are a few of our favourites.

Checkout Smart
Checkout Smart is a cash back app that offers you cash back on certain products when bought at certain stores.

Every day new offers are loaded and the more you use it the more the offers refresh. All you need to do is..

Check the app each day for offers
Choose which offers you want to redeem
Head to the supermarket and buy the products
After purchasing take a photograph of your receipt
Await confirmation of your cash back

Once your cash back has been confirmed it will go on to your balance. You can cash out your balance at any time however no fee will be charged if your balance goes above £20.00. Cash back can be paid to your bank via BACS or PayPal.

The amount of cash back on products does vary however sometimes the app offers you the chance to receive 100% cash back making it completely free.

Shopmium is very similar to Checkout Smart. It offers you cash back on certain products and usually refreshes every 1 to 2 days with new offers.

To use Shopmium all you need to do is

Check the app each day for offers
Choose which offers you want to redeem
Head to the supermarket and buy the products
After purchasing take a photograph of your receipt
Await confirmation of your cash back

Shopmium doesn't give you the option to save up your cash back within the app, it is sent directly to your chosen payment method once validated.

There is a reward scheme with Shopmium called Shopmium club. It gives you the option to upgrade to Gold level free of charge by completing easy steps.

At the moment it's a tube of Pringles. You as the referrer will also get a reward of £3 which will go as credit against future cash back offers.

Submit at least 10 cash backs to reach Gold level then submit at least 1 per month to maintain in the Gold level.

There are lots of benefits to being in Gold level including
Exclusive challenges
Previews of offers before they go live
Special gift on your birthday
Momentarily reserved offers

Creative Projects for Your Family Garden

Disclosure - This is a collaboration.

If you want to enhance your garden space and make it a more enjoyable space for your whole family, you’re in the right place. It's important to get outside and enjoy the outdoors and allow your whole family to have that connection with nature. And with that in mind, we’re going to talk today about some of the creative projects you might want to take on with the family to make more of your outdoor space, so keep reading.

planting a vegetable

Create a Birdhouse and Bird Feeders
Making a birdhouse or bird feeder may be a fun and rewarding family endeavor. Begin by researching different sorts of birds native to your area and learning what types of birdhouses and feeders they enjoy. You may even include your children in the design process by allowing them to select materials and decorate the end product.

Design a Mosaic
Mosaics may be used to bring colour and interest to any garden space, and they can be built from a number of materials, including ceramic tiles, shells, and even broken crockery. To begin, sketch out a design on paper or make a template out of cardboard. Then, have your children assist you in selecting the materials and arranging them on the template to produce the mosaic pattern. When you're happy with the design, fill in the spaces with grout to keep the mosaic together.

Build and Fill Your Own Raised Flowerbeds
There are all kinds of creative ways in which you can build your own raised flowerbeds for the garden. And there’s no reason why you shouldn’t get the whole family involved in that process. You can use palettes or railway sleepers to create raised flowerbeds and then create a rainbow flowerbed using different flowers. Or you could grow herbs that you’ll later use in the kitchen.

Start a Vegetable Patch
Starting a vegetable patch will not only provide you with fresh, healthy products, but it will also provide children with an excellent learning opportunity. You can involve your children in the planning process by having them assist you in deciding which vegetables to plant and where to grow them in the garden. You can also involve kids in garden care by having them water and weed the plants.

Build a Koi Pond
A koi pond can serve as both a beautiful and calm focal point in your yard and a home for colourful koi fish. To begin, locate a site for the pond and mark it off with a line. You must also decide on the size and shape of the pond, as well as the materials that will be used to construct it.

There are clearly lots of different ways in which you can engage your kids and get the family to take part in connecting with nature and improving the garden. Each of the ideas we’ve talked about here today will make a difference and, most importantly, allow you to do something fun and creative with your kids.

3 Family Holidays Everyone Will Love

Disclosure - This is a collaborative post

Family holidays are a great way to relax and enjoy yourself with your loved ones. They can even let you foster closer bonds with your kids and reconnect with your partner. If you look back, some of your fondest childhood memories can be on these holidays, and you’ll naturally want to have the same with your kids.

That doesn’t mean all family holidays are made equal. Some are much better and more fun than others, and you’ll want to make sure you and your kids enjoy them. You’ll want to find family holidays everyone will love, and these don’t be hard to find. Three of them could be great for you and your kids, and nobody should have a problem having fun.

Family Holidays Everyone Will Love

Disney World
Disney World is known the world over for being an amazing place for kids to visit, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun for parents, too. It really is a magical place, and you’ll have more of an enjoyable experience than you’d think. You can even feel free to let your inner child out.
While this can be one of the higher-cost family holidays everyone will love, it’s worth every penny. The memories you and your family will make are more than worth spending a little money on, so there’s no reason not to consider Disney World.

If a love of golf runs in the family, then going on a golfing trip is worth considering. You’ll have more than a few options to choose from, with a junior golf camp being perfect for your kids. If you want a family holiday that’s a little more active but still pretty relaxed, this is the perfect choice.
Make sure everyone has an interest in golf before choosing this option. If they do, it’ll be more memorable than you’d think.

Road Trip
Road trips are quite underrated, especially when it comes to a family holiday. While they’ll naturally involve much more travel time, that’s often part of the fun. You can even take the time to get closer with your family while you’re on the road trip. The actual driving time could be the perfect opportunity for this.

There are countless sights you can see during your trip, but you’ll need to make sure you carefully map them out. Keep in mind what you and your family would love to see, and figure out if it’s possible to get to them all during the one road trip. You’ll make more fond memories than you thought.

Finding family holidays everyone will love doesn’t have to be complicated. You could already have a few ideas, and your kids might have places they’d like to go. If you don’t have any ideas, you don’t need to struggle with choosing the perfect holiday for your family.

Going golfing, spending a weekend at Disney World, and even going on a road trip can all create some of the fondest memories you and your children will have. Keep your family’s interests in mind, and you won’t have a problem picking somewhere.
