When Legally Blonde first hit cinema screens back in the early 2000s, I remember really enjoying it. It was fun, feel-good and completely iconic in its own way. That being said, it’s never been one of those films I’ve returned to over and over again throughout the years. So, when the Legally Blonde The Musical UK tour was announced, I’ll be honest I didn’t immediately rush to my computer to book tickets.
As much as I absolutely love theatre, Legally Blonde wasn’t high on my must-see list. However, the moment I saw the cast announcement, everything changed.
I have followed Hannah Lowther on TikTok ever since the lockdown days and have loved watching her journey over the years. From posting online content to stepping onto some of the biggest stages in the West End, her career has blossomed incredibly. Having appeared in productions such as Six and Heathers, Hannah has built a loyal following online and in theatre circles alike. In the UK tour of Legally Blonde, Hannah is cast as Margot, but on selected matinee performances across the tour she steps into the leading role of Elle Woods.
After doing a little bit of searching online, I was so excited to discover that Hannah would be playing Elle Woods at a matinee performance at our local theatre and that was all the convincing I needed. Tickets were booked immediately.
What Is Legally Blonde About?
For anyone unfamiliar with the show, Legally Blonde The Musical follows the story of Elle Woods, a fashion-loving sorority girl whose life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her in favour of someone more serious. Determined to prove herself, Elle follows him to Harvard Law School, where she discovers that she is capable of far more than anyone ever expected.
The musical is packed with high-energy dance numbers, catchy songs, hilarious moments and an uplifting message about believing in yourself. It’s bright, funny, empowering and full of heart. Even if you’re not a huge fan of the original movie, the stage version brings a whole new level of energy and charm that makes it impossible not to enjoy.
A Cast That Completely Delivers
Hannah was flawless as Elle. From the moment she stepped on stage, she completely embodied the character, bringing both the humour and emotional depth that the role demands. She threw everything into the performance, and there were moments where you could genuinely see how much it meant to her to be playing such an iconic lead. That passion translated into every song, every scene, and every interaction making her performance feel authentic and truly special.
The supporting cast were just as impressive. We were lucky enough to see George Coleman as Emmett, who brought warmth and sincerity to the role, perfectly balancing Elle’s energy.
Karen Mavundukure was outstanding as Paulette her comedic timing was spot on, and she had the audience laughing throughout, while still delivering some really heartfelt moments.
And then there was Jamie Chatterton as Warner. He played the role brilliantly, capturing that slightly arrogant charm that makes the character both frustrating and entertaining in equal measure.
One thing I absolutely have to mention, the dogs! Yes, the two adorable dogs that appear throughout the show completely stole the spotlight at times. They were perfectly behaved, added an extra layer of charm, and had the audience collectively “awwing” every time they appeared on stage.
A Fun, Feel-Good Musical Experience
Visually, this production is everything you’d hope for and more. It’s bright, bold, and pink in all the best ways. The set design transitions seamlessly between scenes, keeping the pace fast and engaging, while the costumes are exactly what you’d expect from a show centred around fashion, they’re fun, stylish, and full of personality.
The choreography is another standout feature. Every number feels polished and full of energy, with large ensemble scenes that really bring the stage to life. It’s one of those shows where you can’t help but smile throughout.
We have genuinely been singing “Oh My God You Guys” ever since we left the theatre. It’s the kind of soundtrack that sticks with you, making you want to listen again (and maybe even book tickets for a second visit).
Tour Dates and Where To See It
Legally Blonde The Musical is touring across the UK throughout 2026, with performances scheduled at major theatres nationwide. The production is currently set to run until 2nd January 2027, giving audiences plenty of opportunities to catch it in cities across the country. Our Honest Opinion
Overall, this was an unforgettable theatre experience. Whether you’re a fan of the original film or completely new to the story, Legally Blonde The Musical offers something for everyone comedy, heart, incredible performances, and a soundtrack you won’t forget in a hurry.
For us, it ticked every box. From finally seeing Hannah Lowther perform live to enjoying such a polished and energetic production. This production completely won me over, and it reminded me exactly why live theatre is so special.
If you’re planning your theatre trips for 2026, don’t overlook this one. It’s fun, uplifting, and a perfect reminder that being yourself is always your greatest strength.
