Parenting | How To Help Your Teen With Their Exam Revision [AD]

Edit this post
Last year was probably big J's toughest school year so far. Everything he had worked for throughout his entire school years came down to his GCSE examinations. He was so nervous and although he was prepared he kept thinking he hadn't done enough, which then got us thinking had we done enough as his parents. You don’t have to be a mathlete or a science whizz to help your teen with their exam revision there are other things you can do to take the pressure off them a little bit. I have teamed up with Mount House School, a Sixth Form in Hertfordshire, who offer the following advice for helping teenagers with their exam revision.

How To Deal With Bullying

Edit this post
Being a parent (especially to a teenager) the words 'bully' and 'bullied' frighten the life out of me. I'd like to think that we have brought big J up well and I know him enough to know he would never be capable of being a bully. However no matter how well you have brought your child up there is always the chance they could be bullied.

#TeenTalk

Edit this post
We are so blessed to have a really strong relationship with Big J and I really hope that continues as we tackle his teen years together. He is very open and honest and I know that he would come to me or Daddy if he ever had any problems or to ask a question. However we haven't actually sat down yet to have the puberty talk yet. It's not that we don't want to it's just something I didn't think about but now realise my baby is growing up.

Young Driver Lesson Review

Edit this post
You may already know that last year big J drove a car for the very first time at the age of 12 years old. I had so many tweets and messages from readers who were so happy that I had posted about big J's Young Driver lesson as they had no idea that it existed. I had seen adverts in the Trafford Centre but I had no idea we had a training site so close to home until he had his first lesson. It's even better now that we have two really close by.

What To Pack In A Teenager's Suitcase

Edit this post
Big J has just arrived home from his third trip abroad without us. Its so weird to think he has experienced parts of the world without us. He has been to Rue in France for 5 days, Skiing for a whole week and last week he went to Spain for 5 days.

When it came to packing his suitcase he really wasn't interested at all. I think thats a boy thing because Daddy doesn't like packing either. They both are just happy to watch me do it. I did make a list of things he needed to make it easier for him but I still ended up doing it.

First I packed his hand luggage. He didn't have much in it as the school already had his Passport, EHIC and Euros. His hand luggage just had his phone, earphones, wallet containing some english money for the airport and plane and a book.

The Puberty Talk

Edit this post
I may have already mentioned it a few hundred times already but I still can't believe I have a teenager. Its crazy as I still think I am a teenager at times and especially with my obsession with Disney I'm like a big kid. I know we will have to tweak our parenting skills a little over the next few years because being a teenager is hard work and I know big J will say and do things he won't mean. We will have to remember that his body is going through massive changes and this will effect him emotional, mentally and physically.

Teenage Dirtbag

Edit this post
Okay so big J isn't actually a teenager yet he's still got another 14 months to go but he certainly acts like one.

When you look at big J you would think he is a lovely, well mannered, clean boy. Well two out of the three are correct. He is lovely, well mannered but the clean part I'm not too sure.

No world book day for us :(

Edit this post
On the school run this morning there were lots of children all dressed up going to school to celebrate world book day. All looking lovely and cute dressed as their favourite characters or whatever their parents could rustle up the night before.
