How To Prepare Your Baby's Immune System for Winter

Disclosure - This is a collaborative post

The sniffle season is coming. Weather patterns are shifting from warmer to cooler, and as kids return to the classroom, exposure to bacteria and germs increases. Wellements is a company dedicated to childhood health and wellbeing, and as the seasons shift, parents need to find trustworthy products to help them combat common winter illnesses.

Boosting your little one's immune system is a top priority as the autumn sets in. With a robust immune system, your child has the ultimate biological defence against common colds and viruses, but how can you help bolster your child's system?

Baby Foods That Boost Immunity
Your child's diet is the ultimate baby immunity booster. The foods you choose to give your little one can tremendously impact their overall health. Some foods you should include in your little one's diet are:

Whole-fat plain yogurt
Blueberries
Sweet potatoes
Avocados
Brown rice

Whole fat plain yogurt is a fermented food, meaning it is rich in probiotics. Probiotics are good bacteria in your child's digestive system. When the good bacteria outnumber the bad, your little one is less likely to experience digestive issues. Also, a healthy gut microbiome regulates immune homeostasis, meaning less risk of illness or infection.

By including a mix of healthy fats (avocados), whole grains (brown rice), and fruits and veggies, you ensure your child's body has all the essential nutrients it needs to thrive and remain healthy and strong.
While no diet can entirely eliminate the risk of illness, it can reduce overall risks. Also, people with a healthy immune system tend to recover from common illnesses more quickly than those without.

Supplements for Your Baby's Immunity
When looking for signs of health in your little one, look for signs of strong immune system. The most apparent symptoms of a healthy immune system include:

Sound sleep
Happy disposition
Quick recovery from cold and flu
Rapid wound recovery

Supplements can contribute to a healthy system, even for children. Ensuring your child takes a daily multivitamin is one way of helping build their immune system. Also, providing a probiotic supplement can bolster the gut microbiome, which plays a significant role in immune system support.

Before you put your child on any supplements, consult their pediatrician. While you should follow general dietary guidelines, every person is unique. A doctor can help you determine the specific needs of your child. A physician can also help you identify quality supplements or ingredients.

The summer is ending, and the autumn and winter will bring sniffle weather. As a parent, you want to do everything you can to boost your child's immune system, ensuring it is ready to fight off the predictable germs and bacteria of the seasons.

The best way a parent can contribute to a child's healthy immune system is through diet. Choosing nutrient-dense foods helps ensure your little one's system receives all the necessary vitamins and minerals to function correctly.

Sometimes, even with a balanced diet, children need a little extra nutritional support. Dietary supplements, like multivitamins, can help. Talk to your child's doctor if you suspect vitamin deficiencies or wish to improve their overall health.

Review | InfaCare Bath Time Products

When we had a bathroom makeover I thought little J would prefer the new walk in shower instead of the bath. He loves showers when we stay in hotels or after going the pool but I was wrong. He still loves his bath and it's a big part of his bedtime routine. We have been using Infacare Bath Products now for well over a year and little J loves them.

Cheeky Chompers Neckerchew
My mum and dad were watching a repeat of Dragons Den a few months ago and told me about an idea they had seen, a bib with a teether attached. What a simple for great idea. Little J is now cutting his molars so we are once again full of drool but he is also wanting to bite anything he can get his hands on. Cheeky Chompers, the company seen on Dragons Den kindly sent us a neckerchew for little J to try.

Child sat on grass
The sun shone down on us all a few weeks ago and we finally got all our garden toys out and we have been spending most of our time outside. Big J has been getting up and heading straight in the garden, even before he gets dressed. Little J enjoys playing outside and we take a few of his toys out but its very rare he sits still playing he usually just crawls around chasing after the ball and trying to get a goal.

Disney Cars Booster Seat
Summer is finally here which means lots of BBQ's and eating Al fresco but this can sometimes be a pain for me because if I put little J on the floor for a picnic he just crawls away.  I have to carry little J's huge highchair into the garden all the time so I can get him to sit still and eat. This isn't a problem anymore because I now have a portable high chair and its brilliant. The Booster Seat is so easy and compact to carry round and has made eating outside a doddle.

Little J is now cutting his 6th tooth and is dribbling more than ever. Skibz gave us the chance for little J to try out their dribble bibs.

Skibz Khaki Camouflage

They are so cute and look like a fashion accessory rather than a bib. Little J wore his on a recent visit to the park and another mummy actually commented how cute it was :) I told her this was a Skibz bib and she hadn't heard of them before but will definitely be checking them out now.

Little J's clothes, vest and chest were all dry after wearing his Skibz bib in the park. So pleased as we usually have to change him at least twice before the journey home but no need with his Skibz on

close up of a Skibz bib drool bib
Each Skibz has a double layer backing to protect your little ones clothes and chest from drool. The logo is on the front of the bib.

I love bandana bibs because they fit lovely around the neck and Skibz have an adjustable popper fastening at the back that ensures it a perfect fit.

Little J has definitely given his Skibz a good workout but every time I wash it, it looks brand new.

There are so many designs to choose from you will certainly find a Skibz to match any outfit.

didicar walk n ride
Growing up is made up of many firsts and little J was lucky enough recently to get his first bike - a walk 'n ride by didicar. didicar walk 'n ride is a unique bike as it's a 2 in 1. Firstly it's a walking trainer and then it's becomes a ride on toy

There are four colours to choose from - Blue, Pink, Green and Purple.

Little J was eager to look inside the box and I was surprised there were just four parts to assemble.

Parts included

Walk n ride body
Wheels
Seat
Handle bar

There are just 7 screws to fasten the parts together.

We had been sent a green bike.

didicar walk n ride
We got the instruction leaflet out and it was very simple to put the didicar walk 'n ride together. Little J helped too.

First we attached the seat to the body of the bike. This is fastened with 3 of the screws.

Then we attached the handle bar. Little J loved this. Its a nice shape, easy to grip and light so he was able to pick it up and test it.

The handle bar is attached using the remaining 4 screws

Lastly the four wheels just fitted in the holes and that was it the didicar walk n' ride was set up and ready to use.

Once set up I was happy that it was just the right size for little J.

didicar walk n ride
The colours on the didicar walk 'n ride are really vibrant and the design is really eye catching.

As this is suitable from 12 months to 3 years, little J will at first use this to pull himself up and then to stand. I am hoping it will help with his balance and stability.

Little J seems to like pushing it along the floor at the moment and pulling it back and forth. The rubberised caster wheels allow for complete 360o freedom of movement whilst preventing slipping and marks on the floor.

John put little J on the didicar walk 'n ride and I was happy that his feet touched the floor. He found his balance quite quickly

John had just one hand on his back because little J was able to balance himself.

We will use the stickers to personalise little J's didicar walk 'n ride.

Overall I am really impressed with the didicar walk 'n ride. Its such a fun, quirky and unique design and little J seems to really like it. I love the fact that the wheels move in all directions because it will make it easier for little J to move around, whether it will be pushing it, pulling it or riding on it.

Its quite a neat ride on too, so would be great to take to the park or to a relatives house. The didicar walk 'n ride is suitable for indoor or outdoor play on smooth surfaces.

The didicar walk 'n ride also promotes that it can help with staying healthy

The freewheeling design allows for some serious whizzing around providing exercise while developing space and speed awareness, balance and gross motor skills.

didicar walk 'n ride is available on Amazon

Funky Giraffe Playsuit and Bandana Bibs Review

3 children's bibs with a rocket, car and plane on,
Recently I stumbled upon a website called Funky Giraffe Bibs. I was searching for dribble bibs for little J who is teething at the moment and a good quality dribble bib is hard to find so I thought I would look online.

There is a HUGE selection of bibs to choose from Bandana Bibs, Cotton Bibs, XL Bibs and XXL Bibs. After browsing through the amazing selection I noticed they also stocked other baby items. I fell in love with the playsuits available they are so cute.

Little J was sent a gorgeous funky giraffe playsuit and a selection of bibs to try. We received a red rocket bib, an aeroplane bib and my favourite the racing car. The colours are lovely, really bold.

The back of a dribble bib,
I turned the bibs over and they had a layer of fleece on the back to help soak up the dribble which will protect your child's clothes and chest from getting wet.

A blue and yellow romper suit with a giraffe on
When I saw the playsuit it was gorgeous. The soft feel and bold colours made it even better than I expected.

A baby boy sitting up clapping his hands
I couldn't wait to try it on little J and when I did I have to admit he looked adorable in it :)

A baby boy sitting in a baby walker looking to the right,
Little J was having a drool day as usual so I put the dribble bib on straight away. While he was playing I noticed the bib was getting wet as the yellow had changed colour in parts.

A wet drool bib with a car on,
So it was time for a change of bib but after taking it off I noticed I didn't really need too. His playsuit underneath was dry.

The fleece backing had protected him. I was really impressed and little J was happy.

Why choose a Funky Giraffe Bandana Bib?

Our Funky Giraffe Bandana bibs (also know as dribble bibs) are the perfect accessory for the fashion savvy baby and toddler. Fronts are made from 100% cotton using all natural fibres they feel soft to the touch while adding a unique panache to any outfit, with a fleece backing to keep dribble from soaking through.

We have a range of styles to suit all tastes and each one has been designed in house with you in mind, listening to our customer’s feedback and wishes we have brought more bandanna bibs to our store so you and your baby can benefit from the Funky Giraffe quality.

Each bib has double poppers so you can adjust the fit to suit your little one, this ensures baby hardly notices the bib is there and so keeps it on for longer

Funky Giraffe offer free UK shipping and amazing discounts. The more you buy the move you save.

Nom Nom Kids Reusable Pouch Review

Disclosure - We were sent the products below for the purpose of this review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

Little J loves his fruit and yoghurts but when you're out and about it can be a pain if he doesn't finish one and wants the rest later. I usually throw half pots away because they cant be stored in my changing bag. This means more expense because I end up buying another later on. When little J was given the chance to try out Nom Nom Kids reusable pouches I was excited and eager to try them out.

When they arrived I knew instantly little J would love them. They are so colourful with animals design. They looked just the right size too for little hands :)

I decided to fill little J's with yoghurt and I am glad to say its really easy. There is a zip lock seal along the side which I opened and spooned in the yoghurt. I closed the zip seal and gave it to little J. You can either give it to your child to use direct or you could squeeze into a bowl or on a spoon.

He instantly put it to his mouth and began to suck. The yoghurt flowed easily and there was no mess at all.

When it got towards the end of the yoghurt I did help him squeeze some towards the top. Once he had finished I washed it out, it looked brand new again.

On the back is a place for you to write your child's name, date, what's inside and also tick boxes which would be perfect if in nursery or school.

The pouches have been to the park with us this week and have been squashed and squeezed but bounce back to like new.

Each Nom Nom Kids Resuable Pouch is...
Easy to fill and clean
Dishwasher Safe
Freezer Safe
BPA, phthalate and PVC free
To heat just stand in hot water

You can purchase Nom Nom Kids reusable pouches by visiting Amazon

Pouches are currently priced at £2.95 each or 3 for £6.95

Crawlerz Romper Review

Disclosure -  I was sent this product for the purpose of this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

crawlerz romper suit
Even though little J is 11 months old he hasn't really made much attempt in trying to crawl. We have tried everything to encourage him but it seems as soon as he starts to get onto his knees he slips back down to the lying position. I visited the Crawlerz Website and I really loved the idea so when I was given the chance to review a Crawlerz romper suit I jumped at the chance.

crawlerz romper suit
As soon as little J's Crawlerz Romper arrived I was really impressed with the quality and I instantly thought this is going to keep little J warm while he's rolling around on our wooden floor. The paw prints are so cute too.

baby crawling
When I put the Crawlerz Romper on little J it was a lovely fit and he looked so cute in it. He rolled over to his usual lying on the tummy position and lifted to his knees. The Anti Slip grip definitely helped with little J's ability to stay up on his knees for slightly longer than usual. I was really shocked just how much grip it gave him.

baby playing
Although the Crawlerz romper is designed to help with development it is also just a lovely playsuit.
Little J seemed to like his new suit and the confidence it gave him. He definitely was more mobile.

baby crawling
A few days later I tried it on him again and I could honestly see the difference in his confidence compared to his other suits.

Dribble Stop Top Review

Disclosure -  I was sent this product for free for the purpose of this review but the thoughts and opinions above are my own. *** Dribble Stop Tops have since ceased trading.

Dribble Stop Top
Little J has just cut his fifth tooth so he spends his days in a pool of drool. I am constantly changing his vests, clothes and dribble bibs. It's just an endless cycle of fresh clean clothes, wet clothes, wet chest, upset little J, washing then back to clean clothes again. When I found the Dribble Stop Top website I thought it sounded too good to be true. So when I was given the chance for little J to review a dribble stop top I was really excited but nervous at the same time because it's such a great idea and I really wanted it to work.

When it arrived I couldn't wait to try it on little J. It came in clear packaging and it had a leaflet explaining how the dribble stop top works.

Dribble Stop Top
The first thing I noticed was the quality of the top. It was really well made with nice detail around the arms and the legs. There is a layer of special waterproof material underneath which helps protect the chest but I couldn't see this when it was on him, very discreet.

Dribble Stop Top
So we were ready to try. I put it on little J and decided I would give it a hour first before I checked him because normally after a hour he is ready for a change of clothes.

Once it was on I was really impressed with the fit. The neckline is really high and has two buttons either side. Sometimes little J's vests give him the 'off the shoulder' look because they go quite baggy and I knew straight away this wouldn't happen with the dribble stop top.

Dribble Stop Top
Also it fits perfectly around the bum so no nappy bulging out the sides.

Dribble Stop Top
After 1 hour of playing and as you can see from the photo below lots of drooling it was time to check him.

I was so happy when little J was completely dry. His chest was warm instead of the usual cold and sticky. I didn't need to change little J's vest at all so it gave me a day off from washing. Little J was much happier too.

How It Works

A Pocket made of Specialised Waterproof Material with Skin-Like Breathability – is hidden inside the top which completely covers and protects the Dribble Zone (chest area).

The Unique Extra High Neckline – Ensures maximum coverage.

Our Discreet Dribble Stop Protection – Acts as a barrier & helps stop dribble soaking through to baby’s delicate skin.

Soft Cotton Jersey – Is the only material in contact with baby’s skin ensuring they remain comfortable as well as, safe & dry.

For Parents

No More Constant Clothing Changes = A lighter changing bag

Fewer Changes = Less washing & less ironing

Tumble Dryable = Convenience

Safe Protection = Peace of mind for those nap times & nursery days

No more disturbed sleeps (due to cold wet chests) = more sleep for you

I would definitely recommend dribble stop tops for all little dribblers out there. I have already stocked up on some more because right now these are a must have.

Dribble Stop Tops are available in sizes Sizes 0-3ms, 3-6m, 6-12m, 12-18m, 18-24m.
Available in packs of 2 or 1 & 1 stripe (pink or blue).

You can purchase your Dribble Stop Tops at Amazon
