I've been spending a lot of time recently thinking about last year. I had a really good 2025 and I feel like I achieved so much on both a personal and work level. I got myself a healthy morning routine which helped me start the day full of energy, I lost 3 stone calorie counting and exercising and I had some big 'wins' on the work side so yes it was a good year. I'm now thinking ahead and there are a few things I want to achieve in 2026 and although this isn't something I would usually blog about these days, writing down makes me more accountable so here it goes.
Keep Up My Exercise
Health and fitness was my main priority in 2025 and I want it to remain as my main goal in 2026 too.
This year I really want to up my walking increasing to an average of 12,500 steps a day and incorporate exercise three times a week into my routine. I love walking and it is an easy yet effective way to stay active, clear my mind, and improve overall well-being. On days when I can't get outside I will put on a 'walk at home' video on Youtube, these are perfect to get your steps in as you walk at a really fast pace.
In addition to walking, committing to exercise three times a week will help me build strength and improve my endurance. I'm not going to join a gym because I know I won't stick to that but I will try some yoga sessions and workout routines at home.
Finish 30 Books
I absolutely love reading but I sometimes find it hard to find the time. I say that but I can scroll social media for 30 minutes at times without hesitation. I need to prioritise my reading and reduce my screen time. This year, I’m challenging myself to read 20 pages of a book each night. On average, this will allow me to complete around 30 books in 2025.
To make this goal achievable, I’ve already bought the books I'm going to read and I will keep my tracker updated on Instagram. I'm hoping that ending each day with 20 pages of a book will help calm my mind and help me have a better nights sleep.
This is the Year for Travel
Travel has always been a passion of ours, and in 2026, I’m eager to explore more of the world. We had some amazing holidays over the past few years and I want that to continue. We had a family break to Amsterdam, spent three nights in Copenhagen, and also enjoyed a summer break to Islantilla. We also travelled around the UK. Exploring the world makes us all happy so I'm hoping we can enjoy more travels in 2026.
No More Procrastination
Procrastination has a sneaky way of derailing even the best intentions. In 2026, I’m adopting a new mantra: “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”
I feel too much procrastination leads to me being extremely overwhelmed. I've got my to do lists ready for home, family and work and I'm looking forward to completing each task before I move on to the next one, something I really struggle to do.
Spending Time Together as a Family
Spending time with the boys is so important to me. Now that they are older their interests and priorities have changed and whilst I love them to be spending time with their friends I do think it's important that we still have some family time together. I am planning to have game and movie nights and have at least one 'family day out' per month, whether it's a walk around our favourite National Trust, a trip to the cinema or our favourite, an escape room.
Making Time for Me
This year, I’m making it a goal to have regular “me time” to switch off, unwind, and recharge. I always put others first before myself and that's not something I can change because it's who I am but there are times when I need to put myself first.
I always feel like 'me time' is selfish, but it's not. It's about recognising when I need to slow down or stop and look after myself. My 'me time' will probably consist of reading or exercising and I cannot wait.
So these are my goals for 2026. They're nothing crazy so I'm hoping they will be achievable. What are your goals for 2026?
