Festive Menu at Beefeater

A few weeks ago we were treated to a delicious meal from the new Festive Menu at Beefeater. We have never dined at a Beefeater restaurant before so we were all excited. When it comes to eating out we do usually like to try different places but the Beefeater has never popped up and I'm not sure why as we have many close by.

Sneak Preview At Alton Towers Rollercoaster Restaurant

On Saturday to celebrate our birthdays we went to Alton Towers. Whilst walking over to the new ride Galactica there was a buzz in the air around the new Rollercoaster Restaurant. There were a lot of people hanging around the entrance and because I am very nosey I headed over to take a peek.  I knew it wasn't opening till 13th May so I assumed it must have been a preview event.

We Took The Frankie And Benny's Challenge

We love a good challenge and last week when we were asked to take part in one involving Frankie and Benny's we happily accepted. We love Frankie and Benny's, it's a place we go to for a special treat or to celebrate a special occasion. The reason for this is I have always thought of it to be quite expensive so it's somewhere we wouldn't visit often. When we were asked to dine at Frankie and Benny's for breakfast, lunch and dinner (not all on the same day) on a budget I honestly didn't think it would be possible but I was wrong.

Crown Carveries - The Greenhills Review

Last week to help celebrate my Dads birthday we were invited to our local Crown Carveries pub restaurant. We have visited The Greenhills many times over the years and have always been impressed with the food and also the pub itself.

Alton Towers Rollercoaster Restaurant

As you already know we are massive fans of Alton Towers. We are Merlin Pass Holders so are regulars at the theme park each year and it is very special to us as Daddy proposed to me there. We are always looking out for news and gossip about any new rides and attractions. I have to say I was a little shocked when I recently read the headline online 'Alton Towers to open a Rollercoaster Restaurant.

Harvester - Trentham Lakes Review

We recently visited the Harvester - Trentham Lakes as we were staying close by. The Harvester is located close to a nearby Holiday Inn Express and Stoke FC's football ground, The Britannia Stadium. We have visited Harvester - Trentham Lakes a few times when we have visited Alton Towers, we have never had any problems but I wasn't impressed this visit.

Toby Carvery - Waterside Review

The highlight of my week so far has to be our visit to the Toby Carvery - Waterside. It was a very cold, wet and blustery Monday evening and I really didn't want to head home after the school pick up to cook our dinner. I needed a day off from cooking and a nice Toby Carvery was just what I needed to warm me up.

We have quite a few Toby Carvery restaurants close by although we do tend to drive a little further to the Waterside. Daddy and I used to go for meals there before it was a Toby and it's always been a nice restaurant, even better now.

Visit Brewers Scare This Half Term

You will know by now that we are very fond of Brewers Fayre and we are lucky to have one quite close to home. Earlier this evening we enjoyed a lovely meal and if you are looking for somewhere to take the kids then I would definitely recommend a visit to Brewers Scare this half term. After its recent refurbishment little J loves the new Beano play area and with spooky activities planned for next week I'm sure we will be back for another visit.

Lunch at The Beeches, Wrexham

Last weekend we had planned to do some shopping at McArthur Glen, Cheshire Oaks and were lucky enough to be asked to review a local pub restaurant. So after a morning of retail therapy we headed off for lunch at The Beeches, Wrexham.

Lovely beer garden - although it was a little too cold for us. Maybe in Summer!

On arrival The Beeches was quite large and was next to a Premier Inn. We parked up and where one of the first in the restaurant for lunch which starts at 12pm.

Early Father's Day Meal At Brewers Fayre

If you are a regular reader you will know that we do like going out for meals at our local Brewers Fayre. As Father's Day is approaching we popped along for an Early Father's Day Meal. If you have visited a Brewers Fayre before you will know that they offer a variety of Menus. A normal menu with pub meals, Chef's Counter Menu and a Kids Menu.

When we have the kids with us we almost always choose Chef's Counter. Its a buffet style menu that starts at 5pm with a different theme every night of the week. It includes Burger and Hotdog night, Mexican, Curry and on Fridays it is Chip Shop Buffet Night.

#BPDriveInDineOut With BP And Pizza Express

Spending time together as a family is very important to us and I hope that shows on my blog. As there is an eleven year age gap between my two it is important that we make sure we do things together that interests both my boys. It could be just watching a movie together, visiting a theme park or eating out. Both my boys love visiting restaurants and while sometimes it can be manic dining out with a toddler its always worth it.

Brewers Fayre Birthday Meal

To help celebrate having two birthdays back to back in May, we had a lovely family meal at Brewers Fayre. We have been to Brewers Fayre many times over the years and like most pubs and restaurants they are constantly improving the menu so it was nice to try out their Chef's Counter.

Bella Italia Liverpool - Review

When we walked through the doors of the Bella Italia today I was instantly sent 15 years into the past. When Daddy and I started dating we used to go to the Bella Pasta (thats what it used to be called) all the time. Other than its name it hasn't changed really it was just how I remembered it, I even knew where the toilets where and I haven't been there for at least 13 years.

Dr Oetker Launch #freshnessfrozen Campaign

Being a Mummy my whole attitude towards food has changed. I have to think about my family when I make food choices now and I want to make sure that what I prepare and cook for my boys is fresh and healthy.

The New Kids Menu at Bella Italia

Bella Italia was one of the first restaurants Daddy and I went to as a couple almost 15 years ago and although we have been a few times over the years we haven't been together as a family. Bella Italia have just launched a new kids menu and we were lucky to be invited to try it out on a visit to York.

We pre booked a table for 3pm which was a little early for Dinner but we hadn't had any lunch so little J was feeling very peckish by now. He had only had a snack followed by a snooze so I knew his little stomach would be rumbling.

When we arrived we were seated quickly and was offered a highchair for little J. We were sat right by the kitchen so could see the food being prepared as we waited for the waitress to take our drinks order.

The kids menu was split into two. A menu for little ones and a larger portion menu for up to 11 year olds. Each menu included a starter, main, desert and refillable drink. There is plenty of choice available. If the kids want pizza they can choose a flavour off the main menu and it just comes in a smaller portion.

Daddy and I both got diet coca cola, Big J and little J were eating off the kids menu so they got a refillable drink each. Big J ordered diet coca cola and we order fruit squash for little J. When the kids drinks arrived they were in glass bottle with a plastic straw. They were great and very retro.

We ordered a sharing garlic mozzarella bread to start while the boys each got a garlic bread started included on the kids menu.

Little J was really hungry at this point and I was a little disappointed that our wait for just the starters was almost 45 minutes. They arrived at the table at 3:45pm even though we had been sat since 3pm. This was a long time for a 1 year old to sit still and it was hard for us to try and keep him entertained as he was very hungry. He played on his tablet for a while.

Daddy and big J also played on their phones while we waited.

I had noticed earlier that our garlic bread sitting under the hot lamps for almost 10 minutes but there was no kids garlic breads there. One of the waitresses mentioned to the chef who swiftly moved the garlic bread and looked like he threw it in the bin.

Minutes later we were told our starters were on the way.

The sharing garlic bread was cut into 8 slices and was very filling. Big J and little J's garlic bread was cut into strips and they both seemed to enjoy it.

Once we had finished little J was very restless. He just didn't want to sit in the highchair any longer. Our mains still took another 10 - 15 minutes after we had finished. So before we had even got onto our main course we had been seated for almost 1hr20.

Daddy and I ordered lasagne which came in an oven dish and was very hot but very tasty. Big J's pizza was almost adult size even though it was from the kids menu. Little J's margarita pizza was a good size too and perfect for him to nibble on. He did eat some of it stood up on the seat watching the other guests.

It was clear he wasn't going to eat it all so after we had finished I asked the waitress could we take it home and she took it away and brought it back in a brown takeaway box which was perfect as he ate some more on the way home.

Big J enjoyed his pizza and had room left to visit the Gelato cart for a scoop of bubblegum ice-cream. Little J also got one too, just vanilla.

Overall our experience was okay. The restaurant itself was clean and the waitress was very friendly. It was just the waiting time which let it down. I don't mind waiting for food but 45 minutes for some garlic bread is crazy.

Have you tried the new Bella Italia Kids Menu yet?

Pre Valentines Meal at Prezzo

Last weekend Daddy and I enjoyed a nice romantic meal at Prezzo. It's not a restaurant we have visited before so I was really looking forward to just taking my time, browsing the menu and enjoying Daddy's company.

There are a few Prezzo restaurants within driving distance from us but we chose Prezzo, New Brighton. We had a Buyagift experience voucher which was really easy to use. I visited the website as instructed on the card, entered my details and was given the contact details for my chosen restaurant. I then called the restaurant, requested a time and date and just mentioned we have a Buyagift voucher, we were booked in no problems.

When we arrived we were given a table in the corner near the window with a nice view of the marina. I noticed quite quickly that it was a little chilly. I hate feeling cold and it certainly had a chill in the air but that didn't spoil it for us.

When the waitress took our drinks order I explained I had a Buyagift voucher, she confirmed that we could chose from the main menu but then went to check with the manager and came back with a set menu. We also didn't want the wine so we swapped it for just two soft drinks. The waitress said she would have to check again as it was at the managers discretion but it does actually say on the voucher it can be swapped.

The set menu had lots of choice and included the meals we would have chose anyway. To start we got garlic bread with mozzarella and mozzarella in carrozza.

While we waited for our meal it was nice to look at the sun setting over the marina as it turned dark quite quickly. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived there were only two or three other guests so we didn't wait long at all really for our drinks and starters to arrive.

The mozzarella in carrozza were four mozzarella bites light fried in breadcrumbs and served with a pomodoro sauce. I really enjoyed them, they were quite filling and would be perfect to share. Daddy enjoyed his garlic bread with mozzarella too.

Before our mains arrived Daddy got a big bottle of Peroni which went down well.

My Chicken Caesar salad was really tasty and probably the best I've tasted. The chicken had a light seasoning on too which just added to the flavour.

Daddy ordered a pizza which was double pepperoni. It does come with red chilli too but Daddy asked for just Pepperoni. It was very spicy but delicious.

Included on the buyagift set menu was a choice of two deserts, we ordered Tiramisu. Daddy's favourite pudding so he was very happy.

We had a really lovely evening and I would definitely eat at Prezzo again. At the moment the Prezzo voucher on Buyagift is just £30 and when I added up how much it would have cost us for our three courses and drinks and having the Buyagift saved us over £15 which was amazing.
You can view the range of Buyagift experiences here
