Parks, Outdoors and National Trust

Fresh air is so important and in Liverpool there are lots of parks outdoor adventures and a National Trust to enjoy. Something for all the family. 

Speke Hall, The Walk, Speke, Liverpool L24 1XD 
Speke Hall is one of my favourite National Trust properties. It has something for everyone including  the rare Tudor manor that sits amongst beautiful gardens and a large estate with acres of fields and woodlands to enjoy.

The estate has Woodland play areas giving the kids the chance to burn off some energy , an interactive Giant Childe of Hale play trail and a mind-boggling hedge maze.

Tudor May Day Weekend  - May 4th 2024 - May 6th 2024
Head to Speke Hall this May Day weekend to enjoy the perfect family-friendly day out. Whichever day you choose, you can have a go at archery and pomander making, watch fighting displays, learn about Elizabethan life and see Tudor ladies and gentlemen dancing on the North Lawn.

This event is free of charge but normal Speke Hall admission is required.

Drop In Creative Flower Workshop - May 4th 2024
Head along to one of the two drop in sessions to learn new skills and techniques with clear step-by-step instructions and one-to-one assistance from expert craftspeople. Using your newly-acquired skills, you will have a finished piece to take home and you simply pay for what you make.

Jester Workshop - May 6th 2024
Find out more about the Tudor period's silliest characters and how you can bring them to life as the fun comes to Speke Hall this May.

Normal admission plus £3 per adult and £8 per child.

Mini Makers - May 13th and May 20th 2024
Come along to the restaurant between 10:30 and 12:00 on Mondays during term time to have some crafty fun with your little ones. From paper-chain caterpillars to paint stamping and hand flowers, there's plenty of creative fun to be had at Mini Makers.

As well as a lovely park with a children's play area and ice cream parlour, Calderstones park offers lots of free activities each month. 

Garden Party - May 5th and May 19th 2024
Pop up a deckchair or lay out your picnic blanket in the beautiful Mansion House Garden for a laid-back afternoon of delicious food, music and crafts. Browse the Library on the Lawn – a handpicked selection of books for adults and children to explore and enjoy live entertainment and activities for all the family.  

Elmer Day - May 25th 2024
Everyone's favourite patchwork Elephant turns 35 this year, so of course, Calderstones wanted to celebrate in style at The Storybarn! There’ll be Elmer stories, Elmer crafts and lots of Elmer themed excitement to be had!  

May Half Term at Storybarn - May 26th - June 2nd 2024
Grab your magnifying glasses and pull on your wellies, we’re going on an outdoor storytelling adventure around Calderstones Park. There’ll be games and storytelling in the great outdoors before we head back to the Storybarn inspired by our jaunt to whip up a wild craft to take home. 

Every Monday - Shared Reading - Relax into an hour long reading session lead by one of our friendly trained Reader Leaders.

Every Thursday - Chatty Cafe - Sit at the Chatty Café table for a chat with a stranger.

Every Thursday - Poetry Walk - Join in with a  restorative walk around the park, accompanied by some nourishing poems.

Every Friday - Upcycling Group - Together bring old or rejected furniture back to life and give it a new, worthy home.

First Sunday of the month - Board Games - Join in with an afternoon of board and card games to meet new people, discover exciting new games and revisit beloved old games. 

Last Sunday of the month - Make at the Mansion House - Join in with their monthly, drop-in arts and crafts sessions.

Sefton Park, Liverpool L17 1AP
Sefton Park features many distinctive curved paths perfect for a walk whatever the weather.  Amongst the park's many features are a boating lake, replica statues of Eros and Peter Pan and a café. The park is also home to the famous Palm House, a fabulous glass-panelled building that has been restored to its former glory.

Croxteth Hall and Country Park, Liverpool L11 1EH
Croxteth Country Park is open to visitors all year round. Croxteth Hall is open for Upstairs Downstairs tours and various events throughout the year. The Victorian Walled Garden is open from 10am to 3pm daily (last admission 2.30pm).

Croxteth Park Farm is a traditional working Victorian Farm set within the grounds of Croxteth Hall and Country Park and was formally owned by the late Lord Sefton’s estate.

Inspired by the hit tv show Ninja Warrior UK a new adventure park has arrived in Liverpool. The adventure park is a supervised fitness and activity venue that has something for all ages and abilities. We were lucky to join in with the opening celebrations and we were amongst the first to try out the inflatables, the obstacle courses and we tried to beat the wall.
