Our Family Fortnight | A Surprise Trip To Disneyland Paris

The past fortnight has been a busy one. On the weekend of Father's day we took a spur of the moment trip to Disneyland Paris. That weekend was the last weekend of a Season of Superheroes event. Since we have watched all of the Marvel movies in chronological order we have been hooked on all things superheroes so we didn't want to miss the chance of meeting some our favourite characters.

We didn't tell little J we were heading to Disneyland Paris until we parked at the airport, he got quite a surprise and was very happy. We stayed at Sequoia Lodge which is a new hotel to us and it was really lovely. It's within walking distance to Disney Village and the parks. Luckily we left the bad weather behind us and spent a weekend in complete sunshine.

The Season of Superheroes was everything I wanted it to be. We met Captain America, Spiderman, Captain Marvel, watched two amazing shows and we danced along with The Guardians of the Galaxy. The Superheroes are only there for a short time throughout the year so it was very busy but luckily we got to do and see everything we wanted too.

This trip was very different to any trip we have taken to Disneyland Paris before because although little J is still only 6, he has become quite a thrill seeker and was obsessed with going on the bigger rides. He went on Crush's Coaster and RC Racer and was even contemplating The Hollywood Tower of Terror although I did say maybe next time for that one!

As he wanted to ride the 'bigger' rides and enjoy the Season of Superheroes we found ourselves in Walt Disney Studios more than Disneyland Park and I am sad to say we didn't manage any of the rides in Fantasy Land at all. I still can't quite believe we didn't manage any of Disney's signature rides such as It's a Small World, Peter Pan or The Teacups, maybe next time!

In other news this fortnight Toy Story 4 was released at the cinema. We brought down all our Toy Story toys for little J to play with before we watched the film. He loves them all. I wasn't sure whether we needed a Toy Story 4 as I thought Toy Story 3 had the perfect ending however after seeing Toy Story 4 I was wrong. Toy Story 4 is the perfect ending to 4 amazing movies. I laughed and cried and am so glad they decided to make the movie.

John and I had a few date days this fortnight too which was nice. We went to see Cirque Du Soleil : Toruk. We have never seen anything like it before, it was fantastic.

We also went to see Annie at the theatre which I loved, John not so much. Miss Hannigan was played by Craig Revel Horwood, he was fantastic.

So it's been a fun but busy two weeks. Hopefully the next two will be a little quieter.

  1. I have always wanted to go to Disneyland Paris, it sounds like it';s got some things simiar to Disney World here. I also wasn't sure how I felt about a Toy Story 4 and agree that it was the perfect ending.

  2. I bet the Marvel superhero stuff was amazing, I wish I had made it to Disneyland Paris during this time x

  3. I have just been to see Toy Story 4 and it was just brilliant, but I was not prepared for that ending!

  4. Been twice and can't wait to go back to take the twins - waiting until they are 5 though so they remember it.

  5. Aww what a lovely surprise visit, we love Disneyland Paris too.
