The Summer Holidays is one of my favourite times of year. I get the whole school holidays off with the boys and together we love planning all the things we want to get up to. Days out is usually top of the list as we love being out and about and this Summer we are going to be #ExploringCheshire. We are so lucky to live close to Cheshire as we get to experience all the fantastic things to do and see.

So the boys and I have had a think and we have come up with a list of possible days out so I thought I would share with you and hopefully give you some ideas for this Summer.

Chester Zoo

We are definitely overdue a visit to Chester Zoo as it has been quite a few years since we last visited. There is so much to see and do at Chester Zoo including over 21,000 animals. Last time we went I was too scared to enter the bat cave, maybe I will be brave this time and face my fear.

Planning Our Visit

It is open daily from 10am which is a nice time to arrive so you can enjoy a full day.

Car parking is free.

Admission costs are cheaper when booked online starting at just over £16 for a child and £20 for an adult. During the Summer months the prices change daily so I make sure I check online first.

There is a 'What's Happening' guide online which lets you know of any events that may be happening on the day of your visit.

As you may have guessed by the name Chester Zoo is in Chester and is within easy reach by car, train or bus from around the North West.

Cheshire Oaks

We usually visit Cheshire Oaks at least every couple of months whether its for shopping at the McArthur Glen outlet or The Coliseum Leisure Park. As big J has got older we have found he likes the type of shops at Cheshire Oaks including Boss, Moss Bros and Armani. He enjoys trying to grab a bargain and over the past year he has bought some lovely clothes at a fraction of the RRP.

Planning Our Visit

Cheshire Oaks opens daily at 10am except for Saturday where it opens at 9am.

Parking is free however you can pay to reserve a parking space for just £5. Cheshire Oaks does get very busy so this could be something to think about.

There are over 130 stores so we need to make sure we plan plenty of time if we want to get round them all.

There are lots of places to eat in McArthur Glen including Pizza Express, Yo! Sushi, Cafe Rouge or McDonalds.

Although under cover slightly if it is raining you may get wet as it is an outdoor shopping park.

Cheshire Oaks is within easy reach in the North West by car or train.

Walton Hall Gardens

We only found Walton Hall Gardens last year and absolutely fell in love. As well as a beautiful hall and gardens to explore there is also a large Children's Zoo, Play Area, Mini Golf, Pitch and Putt and Bowls. There is lots of walks and cycle paths and lots of woods to explore. The boys love it there and it's a definite must this Summer.

Planning Our Visit

Walton Hall and Gardens opens every day from 8am until dusk.

The Children's Zoo opens at 10:30am-5pm with feeding time at 2pm.

The heritage cafe on site opens 10am-4pm during school holidays.

Car Park is pay and display, £3 for a weekday and £4 for a weekend.

There are lots of events all year round so check the event calendar before you plan your visit.

Walton Hall Gardens is in Warrington, Cheshire and again within easy reach by Car from anywhere within the North West.

Delamere Forest

Delamere Forest is another of our favourite places for a nice walk and exploring in the woods. We have been quite a few times over the years visiting as part of a school trip, to take part in the Gruffalo Trail and also Go Ape. Delamere is huge and I think even though we have visited several times we still haven't  explored the whole forest yet.

Planning Our Visit

Delamere is open daily from 8am-8pm

There are six payable on site car parks to choose from depending what part of the Forest you wish to explore.

If walking isn't for you, you can visit TRACs the on site bike hire shop which is open from 10:30am daily.

After a long walk or adventure at Go Ape you must have coffee and cake at the cafe, it is amazing.

Delamere is situated in Northwich, Cheshire and is within easy reach by Car from the North West.

The Ice Cream Farm

We have seen how much the Ice Cream Farm has changed over the years and it is now a huge attraction that is so much more than an ice cream shop. There is lots to do and see including Strawberry Falls adventure golf and Honeycomb Canyon, Europe's largest indoor sand and water play area. There is of course an ice cream parlour with over 50 ice cream flavours to choose from.

Planning Our Visit

The Ice Cream Farm is free to enter however there are lots of payable attractions once inside.

Opens daily from 9:30am.

The Ice Cream Farm have a strict no picnic rule so please do bear that in mind if you were thinking of taking along a picnic. Food and Drink are available.

For savings on the payable attractions you can visit the website to buy a Play Pass.

We have loved putting our little list of places together so thanks to Laurus Homes for reminding us just how beautiful and fun Cheshire can be. Will you be #ExploringCheshire this Summer?
