Story time is a huge part of our bedtime routine. It was something we used to do together with big J and now little J too. Once little J has had his bath and is in his PJ's we climb into bed with him, snuggle under the duvet and read a book. Over the years we have collected so many great stories and our favourites do change all the time, but here is our top 6 stories we are reading at the moment.

The Little Boy Who Lost His Name
by David Cadju-Newby and Pedro Serapicos

One day a little boy awoke, sat up and rubbed his eye, he looked over at his bedroom door and got a BIG surprise. His name that he had stuck there had vanished, flown away, 'What exactly am I called? he wondered in dismay.

The Little Boy Who Lost His Name follows the adventures of a little boy trying to find out what he is called. Along the way he collects letters and at the end of the story the letters spell out his name. It's a personalised book so the boy's name is your little boys name. It's so cute and little J absolutely loves it. He was given it as a present last Christmas off his uncle and it's still one of our favourites.

There's a Monster In Your Book
by Tom Fletcher and Greg Abbott

Oh no. . . A mischievous monster has broken into this book. Can you help get rid of him?

We love reading There's a monster in your book it's funny and interactive and little J loves trying to shake, tickle and scare the monster out of the book.

10, 9, 8 . . . Owls Up Late - A Countdown to Bedtime
by Georgiana Deutsch and Ekaterina Trukhan.

Ten little owls are playing in a tree, hopping and hooting happily. But Mummy owl calls from down in the nest, it's bedtime now, it's time to rest.

Peek through the pages and spot the mischievous owls in this fun counting book, perfect for bedtime.

Little J was sent 10,9,8 . . . by Little Tiger and it was an instant hit. He loves books that involve numbers and he loves to find and count the owls on each page as they go from 10-1.

Night Time Around The World - Moon
by Britta Teekentrup.

Have you ever wondered why the moon shines in the night time sky? As the moon waxes and wanes above, the world below is full of busy night time creatures.

The peek-through pages of this book reflect the moon's changing shape throughout the lunar cycle. Gentle rhyming text is brought to life by Britta Teekentrup' illustrations.

Again Moon was sent to little J by Little Tiger and we have all fell in love with it. The story is lovely and the whole book has a very calm feel about it and perfect for feeling completely chilled before bed.

Don't Dip Your Chips In Your Drink, Kate
by Caryl Hart and Leigh Hodgkinson.

Your Majesty, could you advise me about eating and being polite? My mum says I'll never get on in this life if I can't get my manners just right.

When Kate P. Green goes for tea with the queen, she gets more than she bargained for, in this hilariously cheeky look at the tricky subject of table manners.

I have no idea where we got Don't Dip Your Chips from but it has always been in our top books for bedtime. It's funny, witty and cheeky but it makes us smile. Little J loves dipping his chips in his ice cream so he is like Kate in so many ways so we can totally relate.

Daisy Eat Your Peas
by Kes Gray and Nick Sharratt.

Here comes trouble . . . Just how much does mum want Daisy to eat her peas? Well, she'll give Daisy ten puddings, two new bikes, a baby elephant and even a chocolate factory. Now will Daisy eat her peas? or will she turn the tables on mum?

Again I have mentioned Eat Your Peas before as this has been one of our favourites since we were reading bedtime stories to big J. It's funny and no matter who you are I can guarantee on each page you will find yourself shouting 'I Don't Like Peas'

We are always looking for new stories so let us know what you are reading at the moment or which bedtime stories are your favourite?

Michelle

Disclosure - Although we were sent the two little tiger books as mentioned above, we were not asked to write about them or include them on our blog.
