Kaspersky Kids Safe App

I have to admit that both boys are regular online users. It's the world we live in now and with so many devices around our hime having instant access to the world wide web it is impossible to stop them. Little J is a big fan of You Tube Kids and it's perfect for little ones as it has videos and adverts that are designed just for children. Big J however is a teenager and is able to access all sorts of information online which sometimes can be quite worrying.  In a recent European study* of 5040 children aged 10-15 conducted by global cyber security company, Kaspersky, discovered some alarming stats about how children are using the internet, and how they may not be protecting themselves as they should.

Over two thirds of the children said they had heard bad language on the internet, while a third said they had witnessed violence online, with a quarter saying they had viewed pornography online.

I have witnessed bad language myself while big J has been playing Xbox Online and the opponent has sworn which you could hear through the TV. Although he wasn't talking to this person he had connected with him virtually to play a game. Since then we made the decision that big J is only allowed to play online games with his friends.

One in five children admitted their parents set no rules about how they used the internet at home and two-thirds of the respondents said they would know how to hide something from their parents that they were looking at online.

Kaspersky have a way to help keep our children safe online by creating a downloadable app. Kaspersky Safe Kids app helps to protect our children as they access the world wide web.
