Laughing The January Blues Away

Edit this post

January is probably our worst month of the year. Christmas is over, it's always cold and wet and there isn't anything to look forward to. We don't usually get the January blues however this year I can feel it a little as the weather has been so miserable we haven't be able to get out and about. I am taking the new year, new you challenge and to cheer myself up I am going to laugh the January blues away by watching some fabulous comedy movies. Daddy and I do like however we tend to watch more serious / suspense type movies and programs such as 10 Cloverfield Lane, The Affair and The Fall.

So we are going to brighten and lighten up our January starting with Private Benjamin. I have never seen this movie which is strange as I am a huge fan of Goldie Hawn and one of my favourite movies ever is Overboard which she starred in with Kurt Russell. Private Benjamin is a movie about a  sheltered young high society woman who joins the United States Army on a whim and finds herself in a more difficult situation than she ever expected.

Next on the list is Witches of Eastwick. Over the years I have heard about this movie and just never got round to it. There are so many movies released daily on dvd and cinema that is impossible to keep up however Daddy and I know that there are some classics out there that we haven't seen yet, this being one. Witches of Eastwick tells the story of three single women in a picturesque village have their wishes granted - at a cost - when a mysterious and flamboyant man arrives in their lives.

The Wedding Singer is such a funny movie and it is definitely up there in my list of favourite movies. It makes me belly laugh and the chemistry between Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler is amazing. Set in the 80's, Robbie, a singer, and Julia, a waitress, are both engaged, but to the wrong people. Fortune intervenes to help them discover each other.

As I am such a fan of Drew and Adam I am going to be watching Blended. I haven't seen this movie so I am really looking forward to. After a bad blind date, a man and woman find themselves stuck together at a resort for families, where their attraction grows as their respective kids benefit from the burgeoning relationship.

How to Be Single was probably the last 'comedy' movie I watched last year at the Cinema. It is such a great feel good movie and Daddy hasn't seen this one so we are planning to watch it together. Really hope he likes it as much as I do. How to be single tells the story of A group of young adults navigate love and relationships in New York City.
