Daddy Gets Handy In The Kitchen

Daddy has been making himself useful in the kitchen recently making us some yummy meals and treats. He's actually really good at cooking and I know its something he really wants to start making more of an effort on. Keep an eye out for some yummy posts showing off Daddy's talents but for now I'll pass you over to Daddy who is keen to tell you about what he is up to next.

As Mummy mentioned I have been trying to spend more time in the kitchen recently and it's got me thinking about how many of the lovely foods we eat every day that we take for granted.

I haven't mentioned this before but I have a brother who is coeliac. This means that he can't eat normal bread or many forms of wheat as he is not able to process gluten.  Think about that for moment.  How many of the things we eat every day contain gluten? That wipes out my favourite breakfasts of toast and cereals and other foods like pizza and scones.

Now you can get gluten free produce, but to me, having tasted some of them, especially the bread it doesn't taste great.

I bought my brother a bread maker for Christmas to try and help him make gluten free bread that didn't taste like cardboard, and he loves it.

It seemed like a strange present at the time however, wanting to become the kitchen master, I have now discovered that there are a plethora of gadgets out there all ready to do the baking for you.

I love all things bread - loaves, pizza, baguettes, toast, ciabatta, as do little J and big J, and I would love to be able to create the perfect doughy bread and be able to eat it freshly baked.

When I looked for a breadmaker, I was simply amazed by the amount of things that you can actually bake in a bread maker. I found some bread machine recipes by Panasonic and I can't wait to try them out.  Here you will see that you can even bake lemon drizzle cake and jam in a breadmaker - who would have thought!!

So, I am seriously considering the purchase of a bread maker as there is also the economic and healthy perspectives to look at and consider ( well that's what I told mummy anyway)

Do you own a breadmaker? what recipe what would you recommend?
