We Took The Frankie And Benny's Challenge

We love a good challenge and last week when we were asked to take part in one involving Frankie and Benny's we happily accepted. We love Frankie and Benny's, it's a place we go to for a special treat or to celebrate a special occasion. The reason for this is I have always thought of it to be quite expensive so it's somewhere we wouldn't visit often. When we were asked to dine at Frankie and Benny's for breakfast, lunch and dinner (not all on the same day) on a budget I honestly didn't think it would be possible but I was wrong.

Frankie and Benny's
So for the challenge we had a budget of £35 per person for all meals.

First of all was breakfast. We hadn't dined at Frankie's for breakfast before so I was quite interested to see what was on offer and what it was going to be like.

Frankie and Benny's breakfast menu

Served until 11:30am the breakfast menu has everything you would expect and more. Priced at £5.95 each, there was a choice of 13 different breakfasts. Traditional, Veggie, Stackers, Pancakes and Waffles. It was a tough choice as part of me wanted to be adventurous and choose something 'American' and the other part of me wanted to play it safe, so I went in the middle. I ordered a Veggie Stacker and Daddy had a Traditional Breakfast.

Frankie and Benny's veggie stacker

The Stacker which included a potato rosti, fresh tomato, cheese, smashed avocado (I didn't get this as never tried it before), fried egg and tomato ketchup on freshly baked rosemary bread.

Frankie and Benny's traditional breakfast

The Traditional Breakfast included Sausage, three rashers of streaky bacon, two fried eggs, grilled tomato, button mushrooms (daddy didn't get a tomato or mushrooms), Heinz baked beans and crispy herb potatoes.

Frankie and Benny's free refillable hot drink

We each ordered a hot drink which was priced at just £1.95 and was unlimited refills.

My stacker was delicious, the bread was warm and everything was very tasty. Daddy wasn't too keen on the traditional breakfast. Having just one sausage seemed strange as most breakfasts offer two and also the beans came in a tiny pot so was only a spoonful at most. I wasn't impressed that although I asked for no avocado and Daddy asked for no tomato or mushrooms we weren't offered anything else in return. It would have been nice to be offered something to replace the items we didn't want, especially on Daddy's breakfast.

Frankie and Benny's lunch menu

The lunch menu is served till 5:30pm and has lots of choice. The mains are priced at £6.95 and they include pizza, pasta, Frankie favourites, sandwiches, salads and wraps.

After studying the menu for what felt like forever I finally decided on my lunch. There was just so much choice and everything sounded delicious. I finally went for the BBQ Chicken Wrap and Daddy chose the BBQ Cheeseburger.

We were actually eating our lunch quite late I think it was around 4pm so I was hoping the meals were a decent size and I'm pleased to say they were.

Frankie and Benny's BBQ Chicken Wrap

The BBQ Chicken wrap came included roasted red pepper, cheese, iceberg lettuce and BBQ Sauce. It was served with coleslaw and the choice of salad or fries. I opted for fries.

Frankie and Benny's BBQ Cheeseburger

Daddy wanted his BBQ Cheeseburger plain and chose fries too.

We ordered two Pepsi Max drinks and were told if we ordered Pepsi or Diet Pepsi they would include free refills which was great as I do like free refills.

I was really impressed not only with our own meals but I did glance at a few tables around us who had ordered from the lunch menu and the meals were of a pretty decent size. Having the lunch menu until 5:30pm is perfect for those who like us have little ones so tend to eat early. It just means you can have a nice meal out that doesn't break the bank.

Frankie and Benny's Main Menu

When we had dined for lunch I did have a glance at the main dinner menu and thats were I thought it would get costly. Most of the meals were the ones offered on the lunch time menu but as it was a dinner menu they were much more expensive.

Both Daddy and I chose the BBQ Chicken Pizza which was £10.95. Most of menu items were priced over £10.

Frankie and Benny's BBQ Chicken pizza

We have both eaten the BBQ Chicken Pizza before on the lunch menu so we knew we would enjoy it. I was actually shocked that it was exactly the same size although £4 dearer.

We both ordered diet pepsi again.

So how did we do on the challenge? Did our total bill come in under £35 per person? Yes it did. Our total amount spent for breakfast, lunch and dinner was £31.30 each. I was shocked if I am being honest as I thought it would have been far more expensive. Each meal we had unlimited refills so it did save quite a few pounds as buying extra drinks can be very costly.

Overall we are really pleased that we did the challenge. Not only did we enjoy all three meals but it has made us realise that if you go at the right time it isn't actually as expensive as it may seem or you may have thought.

The lunch menu is by far the best for value and we will definitely be returning again using the lunch menu for an early dinner.

You can view all the menus and also check for any offers at Frankie And Benny's

Have you been to Frankie and Benny's before?

  2. We love Frankie and Benny's it is our go to family place to eat. My children love it and so do us adults. We used to always visit for Breakfast when we went on days out as we thought it was great value and we often visit for lunch when we are out on shopping trips etc. As a family of five we actually find it quiet inexensive. I agree the evening menu can be pricey but we rarely visit in the evening xx
