#OurSummerDays Day 20 at Butlins, Skegness - Arrival and Splashworld

BUTLINS

This year we decided to visit Butlins, Skegness for our summer holiday. We had a few other trips planned so we decided to stick them all together and make it one big holiday.

We visited Skegness last year and we all had a great time. Little J was only months old so I was looking forward to him doing a lot more this year.

We had booked a silver apartment but we got upgraded to a Gold apartment with food court dining. This was great for us and if we ever returned to Butlins I would definitely include food in our package.

Its an all you can eat and includes breakfast and dinner. There is so much choice and was perfect for little J as he usually eats around 4:30 and it opens at this time and it was usually quiet around this time.

When we arrived check in was quick and easy and was done in the car. We had a drive through check
in and we were given our keys to the apartment at 11am even though it said 3pm. When we went to the accommodation the door was already open and was being cleaned so we headed straight the indoor pool.

Splash Waterworld is on site, free for guests and is absolutely amazing. Big and little J loved it and we went swimming every day.

There is one main pool, a children's splash pool with slide, a whirl pool area, rapids and a lagoon type pool. There is also three slides and an outdoor rapids too. Big J loves the slides especially the red one which is fastest.

Once we had finished in the pool our room was ready. There was a travel cot provided for little J but no bedding at all, not even a blanket. When we asked at the Gold Reception we were told they do not supply a blanket and we searched on site and no where sold one either. We had to buy a Butlins towel to cover little J through the night. It was ridiculous that a family holiday site doesn't have blankets for cots?

The room itself was very spacious and included three bedrooms, a kitchen/dining room, lounge, bathroom with shower. There was  a heated towel rail in the bathroom which was perfect for drying the towels from the pool. The DVD player was also a nice bonus and you can rent dvds on site free of charge. You just need to give them a £10 refundable deposit.

I cant complain at all about the apartment. We had maid service every day, tea and coffee was replenished and one day they washed the cups too.
