Days Out | Knowsley Safari Park

We live under 20 minutes away from Knowsley Safari Park yet we haven't been for years which is such a shame. Last week we visited and I instantly remembered all the things I loved about the park and how much fun we have missed out on.

When you arrive you drive your car up to the kiosk and pay your entry fee if you haven't already booked online. A typical family of four (2 adults and 2 children) costs just under £60 or £53 if booked online beforehand.

There is an option to pay an extra £5.50 per person for the Baboon Bus. The bus takes you through the Baboons so that you don't have to worry about your car getting damaged. Trust me they are very naughty and will try to break off your wipers and wing mirror.

If you don't fancy paying extra for the bus, there is a car friendly route which takes you on the outside of the baboon enclosure.

Once paid you are ready to start your safari drive. The route took us approx 40 minutes but this will depend on you and how long you wish to take. We spent quite a long time by the Rhino's because they were right by the cars and little J enjoyed looking at the Lions. They weren't doing anything just lounging around but he liked them anyway.

After the Safari you are then free to enjoy the rest of the park.

Facilities and attractions include a restaurant, coffee shop, children's play areas, Sea lion and Bird Shows throughout the day and Children's rides.

First we purchased a wristband for little J to enjoy the fairground rides. The cost is £10 per child and includes unlimited rides and an adult goes free of charge.

Little J's favourite was definitely the Safari Dodgems. He went on 3 times and there was never a queue.

There were some amazing views from the miniature railway train.

After the rides we visited the Bird of Prey show, Wolf Country and the Sea Lion show.

The shows are really good and although we have seen the Sea Lion show many times over the years it always amazes me how clever they are.

After our visit we are considering purchasing the Annual Pass. Knowsley Safari Park is so much more than just the animals it's an amazing fun packed day out. The park is situated in Knowsley which is in easy reach from Liverpool, Manchester or anywhere else in the North West really. If I didn't live in the North West I would still visit for a day out.
