Little J's Visit To Finch Farm

A few weeks ago we received a letter from the Everton Academy inviting little J to a fun day at Everton's training ground, Finch Farm. Little J was more than excited and has been counting down the days till he could go and show off his football skills. He absolutely loves football and will go out in the garden most nights with his big football practising his strikes and also his goalie skills.

Top Tips When Booking A Holiday

As soon as Christmas was over we started talking about a Summer holiday for 2018. As we went to Walt Disney World in April last year we didn't have a Summer holiday and the 6 weeks dragged and I really wish we had booked something even if it was just a week somewhere. Usually we would have something booked by now but for one reason or another we haven't so over the last week we have been trawling the Internet for possible destinations. We have spent every night for hours looking for something suitable but we still haven't found anything. I have however gathered a few top tips when booking a holiday which could help you save unnecessary time.

Looking Back - Big J's Birth Story

It was quite a surprise when I found out I was pregnant with big J. I was 21 at the time and although having children was definitely something we wanted we hadn’t been trying. Finding out I was pregnant was definitely a nice surprise and I think I ‘Grew up’ very quickly after seeing the positive on the pregnancy test. John and I had only been together a year but it felt right and we were extremely excited.

Our Sunday Photo #2 - Tightening The Purse Strings

January is my least favourite month because nothing good happens in January. Christmas has been and gone, you usually feel the need to diet after over indulging at Christmas and money is tight due to over spending. This month we definitely need to tighten our purse strings so we have been opting for winter walks and staying away from January sales. To be honest the last two weekends have been lovely we visited Tatton Park last week, and today we fed the ducks and little J rode his scooter around the park. Days like today don't cost anything but are so much fun. It's nice to cut back every now and then and it's good to remember that most children just need a large open space to run around in with their ball, bike or scooter and days like that usually come free.

Review - Rory's Story Cubes

As you may already know we are a Board Game Club blogger and each month we receive a game to play. We received something a little different this month, Rory's Story Cubes. I have never heard of them before so we were all  eager to try them out. The idea behind the story cubes is you create a story using all nine icons shown on the cubes that you roll out in front of you.

Weigh In Wednesday #1 - 03/01/2018

Like most people a new year means we take a look at ourselves and our lives and try to make them better for the year ahead. Some people make resolutions and this year I am making a pact with myself that I will lose weight and get fit. I have started Slimming World and also will be doing regular swimming sessions to try and shed some pounds. I have really struggled with my weight and I know that this will be quite a challenge for me but it has to be done.

Breakfast With Santa at Alton Towers Hotel

One of our favourite Christmas traditions is visiting Alton Towers each year for Santa’s Sleepover. This is a tradition that we have enjoyed for about 11 years now and over those years we have seen the special event change and evolve with new activities added each year. This year we enjoyed a breakfast with Santa for the first time.

Alphabet Dating - G is for The Greatest Showman

John and I have decided to do alphabet dating again this year though we are not doing the letters in order as it gets too complicated however we will only do a letter twice in a whole year. Our first alphabet date was to go and see The Greatest Showman in the Gallery at Odeon. I am a sucker for anything that is musical so this was a must see for me, Hugh and Zac were a pleasant bonus. John isn't so keen on this type of film even though he has sat through many musicals I have watched at home and he did watch La La Land with me that he enjoyed to some extent.

Quote Of The Week #1

You will read this week that I am trying to lose weight. I have been on this journey before and failed so I really want to prove to myself that I can do this and I do want to achieve my goal. Losing weight doesn't come easy to me and I really do have to give it my everything. I always feel deflated when I don't see instant results for all my efforts and then I start to think 'Whats the point?' I have to push past that and carry on regardless and hopefully I will achieve. My motivational quote for the week is

'A Little Progress Each Day Adds Up To Big Results'

Our Sunday Photo #1 - Christmas Is Over

Happy New Year Everyone. I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year. A week ago our fireplace was covered in tinsel, twinkling lights, candles and lots of other festive decorations but now it is so bare and I don't like it. If I am honest I was desperate for the decorations to come down as after the toy explosion that was Christmas the house felt cluttered and dusty and in need of a big clean but now it just looks so miserable.

Review - Chad Valley Post Office

One of my favourite toys when I was younger was my Post Office play set. I would play with it for hours and I remember picking up leaflets and paying in slips when we visited the post office so I could add them to my play set. When Chad Valley sent us their Post Office Play Set it brought back so many memories. I knew little J would love it as he loves anything like this especially as it has lots of accessories.
