I know in todays world toys and gadgets are so advanced now and completely different to the toys that were available when I was younger. I think its important to remember that basic toys can provide so much fun, development and creativity. Skip Hop Alphabet Zoo ABC house blocks do just that.

Happy Angelversary Isabella

At 2:50pm on Sunday 28th March 2010 I gave birth to Isabella who was born sleeping at 40 weeks and 5 days. At that moment our lives changed forever. We would never be the same people again.
Today Isabella should be celebrating her 4th birthday here with us but instead we are saying Happy Angelversary Isabella hoping that somehow, somewhere she can hear us.

Where has the time gone? I can't believe my little J is 1 already. Happy Birthday little J

PS4 Peripherals

Being a big gamer I was excited to be fortunate enough to be able to secure a PS4 for launch date in the UK.  One of the things I really enjoy with a new console is the unboxing, opening of console and add on PS4 peripherals, and then taking my time to get the set up perfect ready for the first switch on.

Zu3D iPad App Review

Big J is always purchasing apps from the Apple App Store and it amazes me just how many different apps there are out there. Recently we were asked to try the Zu3D ipad app and I was looking forward to having a go at this because I have read about Zu3D before.

Little J's Operation Date Is Confirmed

It's the letter we having been waiting almost a year for but now it's here I'm not sure I want it. Little J's operation date is confirmed. When little J was born we knew he had a problem with his left leg. We found out at the 20 week scan he had a bowed tibia and until he was born there was not much they could do. What they didn't pick up on the scan was little J had a deformed big toe. So when he arrived we weren't expecting it and it was a shock.

Little J was born with a partial duplication with a varus deformity. To you and me that basically means that underneath the skin he has an extra bone that maybe should have been connected to an extra toe but he just has one big toe and it's bent outwards. The severity of the angle in some cases can be just a few degrees but little J's edges towards 90 degrees so it has made wearing shoes impossible. He is almost one and has never owned a pair of shoes. He tends to just wear socks but even then we have to buy bigger so they are not too tight.

Well the letter for his operation has arrived and it's in just over a week :( The letter tells us all the usual stuff before you have an operation and there is also a leaflet explaining what will happen on the day and about the risks involved with general anaesthetic. It made me feel quite sick, nervous and scared for little J because I know he has to have a general anaesthetic but I can't help having that thought in my mind 'what if something goes wrong?

The operation will consist of the surgeons removing the extra bone and then realigning his toe so it is in the right position. Afterwards he will have pins attached to his bones to keep them in place. They will stick out the top of the toe so I can imagine that is not going to be pleasant but I think they will be removed after a set time. Going through this operation means little J will have better balance and be able to wear shoes so I know he has to have it done but I wish he didn't have to and his toe was just normal.

Dear Mum Journal - From You To Me

Anyone who knows me knows I have books and pads for everything. I write everything down. I am always writing lists, blog ideas, notes and I always get a new diary at Christmas too. Writing your thoughts and ideas down is a great way to save your memories and look back on them later in life. When I found From You to Me I instantly loved the idea so I was so pleased when I got the chance to receive a Dear Mum Journal - From You to Me

Teenage Dirtbag

Okay so big J isn't actually a teenager yet he's still got another 14 months to go but he certainly acts like one.

When you look at big J you would think he is a lovely, well mannered, clean boy. Well two out of the three are correct. He is lovely, well mannered but the clean part I'm not too sure.

Tatty Teddy and Blue Nose Friends Review

I have always been a fan of Carte Blanche Tatty Teddy. Ever since Daddy
and I first got together and he bought me my first bear. He bought me a bear holding a pillow and wearing a nightcap with the words goodnight on it. The pillow had a poem saying

"I GO TO BED AT NIGHT,
   AND IMAGINE THAT YOU`RE THERE
I HOPE YOU DREAM OF ME TONIGHT,
AND KNOW HOW MUCH I CARE".

Since then I have had lots more teddies for all different occasions and as the Tatty Teddy range grew so did my collection.

Recently I was sent 4 teddies from the Tatty Teddy My Blue Nose Friends. They are brand new out, so cute and I couldn't wait to share them with you all on my blog.

When Your Little One Doesn't Sleep

Poor little J has been quite ill now for 5 days. I feel so sorry for him because at first he had such a high temperature and he was very drowsy and confused. During the night he was up quite a lot and really restless. So Daddy and I haven't had much sleep over the last few days and it got me thinking and remembering just how hard it is when you have a baby or toddler that just doesn't like to sleep.

Big J would be awake 22 hours a day when he was a toddler

Heat Holder Socks Review

I would guess that if Daddy could change one thing about me he would definitely change my feet. Ever since I can remember I have always had cold feet. It doesn't matter if I have been wearing socks, slippers or shoes they are still icy cold.

When I was given the chance to review Heat Holders I instantly thought there would be no way they could make my blocks of ice into toastie toes.

We were sent two pairs so Daddy and I decided to give them a try.

One Roll Too Far

Have you ever watched something bad happen and although it seemed to go in slow motion you were unable to get there in time to prevent it? That happened to me yesterday and it was really upsetting.

A1 Gifts Review

A1 gifts have some lovely gifts to show that special someone you care. I was recently sent a surprise gift  from their mothers day range.

It was delivered in a white box and was perfectly packaged. Inside was a photo frame.

When The Postman Knocks

When I was 16 I started entering competitions. I won my first competition almost straight away - to see Steps in concert. I couldn't believe it. I never thought winners actually existed. Since then I've been hooked. I love comping especially when the postman knocks.

The Sun Shines On Liverpool

What a lovely bright and sunny weekend we had here in Liverpool. It was so nice to wake up with the sun shining through the curtains. We made the most of the glorious weather and went to Otterspool Prom and The Festival Gardens.

I have browsed the website and its packed to the brim of yummy treats for all occasions. There is so much choice and even better they do letterbox friendly pokes so no need to wait in for the postman :)

Funky Giraffe Playsuit and Bandana Bibs Review

Recently I stumbled upon a website called Funky Giraffe Bibs. I was searching for dribble bibs for little J who is teething at the moment and a good quality dribble bib is hard to find so I thought I would look online.

There is a HUGE selection of bibs to choose from Bandana Bibs, Cotton Bibs, XL Bibs and XXL Bibs. After browsing through the amazing selection I noticed they also stocked other baby items. I fell in love with the playsuits available they are so cute.

Not A Good Day

Today we had to visit a new community paediatrician for little J's development. I had prepared myself for the worst and unfortunately it was a good job I did.

Nom Nom Kids Reusable Pouch Review

Little J loves his fruit and yoghurts but when you're out and about it can be a pain if he doesn't finish one and wants the rest later. I usually throw half pots away because they cant be stored in my changing bag. This means more expense because I end up buying another later on.

When little J was given the chance to try out Nom Nom Kids reusable pouches I was excited and eager to try them out.

No world book day for us :(

On the school run this morning there were lots of children all dressed up going to school to celebrate world book day. All looking lovely and cute dressed as their favourite characters or whatever their parents could rustle up the night before.

Crawlerz Romper Review

Even though little J is 11 months old he hasn't really made much attempt in trying to crawl. We have tried everything to encourage him but it seems as soon as he starts to get onto his knees he slips back down to the lying position. I visited the Crawlerz Website and I really loved the idea so when I was given the chance to review a Crawlerz romper suit I jumped at the chance.

20 questions about being a parent eek... here it goes. I was tagged by Rachel at Activities 4 Kidz

Dribble Stop Top Review

Little J has just cut his fifth tooth so he spends his days in a pool of drool. I am constantly changing his vests, clothes and dribble bibs. It's just an endless cycle of fresh clean clothes, wet clothes, wet chest, upset little J, washing then back to clean clothes again. When I found the Dribble Stop Top website I thought it sounded too good to be true. So when I was given the chance for little J to review a dribble stop top I was really excited but nervous at the same time because it's such a great idea and I really wanted it to work.

Monthly Memories - February

On the first day of every month I will take a look back at our memories from the month before.

So what did we get up to in February.

We had a lovely start to the month when all of big J's hard work paid off and he got his third distinction for a science project. So proud of him he really does work hard.
